Project Teddy began in 2008 as an experiment in giving back to the community. The goal was simple: collect fifty new teddy bears to give to the children on extended stay during the holiday season at Janet Weis Children's Hospital in Danville, Pennsylvania. This initiative resulted in over 650 community-sourced donated teddy bears.

Since its beginnings in 2008, Project Teddy has collected nearly 2,000 cuddly teddy bears for children across the United States and around the world. Each year, our central purpose is to collect from and donate teddy bears back within the local community. This would not be possible without the support of local partner organizations and businesses which host collection boxes, provide materials, assist with forms of promotion, and support Project Teddy through in-kind or financial contributions. Additionally, our nationwide and corporate partners assist in expanding our scope of action and awareness on a grander scale.

With each level of expansion, we maintain the integral vision of providing teddy bears to children at a local and global level. We believe that with each teddy bear, we can inspire comfort and warmth and that our emphasis on "paying it forward" can inspire exponential acts of kindness time after time. Teddy bears are a global symbol of goodness and most importantly, comfort. For many children without a cuddly teddy of his or her own, their first teddy bear serves the crucial purpose of a comfort object for improved emotional resilience over time. Our global perspective aims to impact children around the world with the singular vision of putting a teddy bear in the arms of children everywhere. We see a future world where every child has a teddy bear to call their own.

At Project Teddy, we want communities around the world to get involved in making a difference locally. Start with a teddy drive in your neighborhood, host a donation box at your business or organization, or ship a few bears our way and you'll leave your mark too. Every child deserves a teddy bear, won't you help us today?
